Reflections on the first few months in Otovo
When I first joined Otovo, I was anxious and nervous about moving from my comfort zone of tech in oil and gas to the undiscovered ocean of a marketplace for residential solars and batteries. Now that the nerves are settling down, I thought of writing down the first few reflections that comes to my mind while working in Otovo :
The clarity in the Mission & Vission
The whole organization believes and aligns behind the mission of becoming a #1 Pan Europen Solar and Battery Marketplace.
Values are not lost in a journey from Startup to Scaleup path - People do actually follow the Mountain Code.
A bit of history around Mountain Code. Norwegian Mountain Code is meant to help people navigate the mountains safely and responsibly. These are set of 9 principles (or rules) to achieve your goals in unchartered territory and master the challenges you face along the way.
We (Product org) have our own set of Mountain Codes relateing to our product that the we follow in *most* of the situation.

Focus on the Product Discovery (the right one) -
As Marty Cagan summarized Product Discovery in this podcast, there are essentially two kinds of Product Discovery, one is discovering the problem to solve that you should focus on, and the other is discovering the solution that people would buy. The value is whether you are spending *most* of your time on the first one or the later one. PS : Most of the value is made if a Product team is spending time on the later one ;) Podcast Link :
